Will it be too hot like a weighted blanket?

No. You hold it on your lap or chest, it does not cover you, so the heat has nowhere to build.

How heavy is it?

It carries a genuine, even weight throughout, not a token bit in the middle. The exact weight is listed on each character's page.

Can I wash it?

Yes. The cover is removable and machine washable. Pop the insert out first, then wash the outside.

Is it safe?

Yes. Non-toxic fill, gentle and safe for all ages, made to recognised safety standards.

Does it really help?

Many people find holding a gentle, even weight soothing at the end of the day. It is comfort, not a cure.
